The Skinner Fiesta

Our son said that he wanted to make some food, put speakers out on the patio, string the lights, catch lightning bugs and have a fiesta tonight! Mario (our next door neighbor), is already rocking some joint with a salsa vibe, so it must be in the air.

Everyone's in the kitchen working out the recipes. Seems, Homemade Lemon-Lime Soda Pop, is on the menu for drinks. The recipe came from the kiddos cook book, "Pretend Soup and other real recipes". This book is the bomb! We found it at the Franklin Library.

I got home, just in time for a toast and a sample of what's to come...and as MK says,...YUM!!!

On My Way/Out of My Way (an eatery you should know about) vol.1-Aux Choux

One of my new favorite places for coffee and dessert is Aux Choux, in downtown Franklin (4th and Main). I think I've been taking someone there every other day. Crystal has a variety of wonderfully tasty desserts and some of the best french press, free trade coffee around.

Dig the vibe and my only complaint is that she's not 24/7!! Go check it out and tell her Anthony sent you---we need to make sure she sticks around for a looooong time!!

Jesus loved the grape and so do I!

My wife took a trip to Argentina a few years ago with a friend. The terrain and climate is not unlike our old Northern California stompin grounds (which we love!!).

Anyhoo, she returned with some 'Fruit "O" the Vine' and we've been diggin' the Argentinian Grape ever since. We love most everything out of Mendoza, especially the Malbecs. We've since ventured out to Chile as well. Some of the labels we gravitate to that are available here locally are pictured below. They're really affordable and some of them down right cheap and a great bang for the buck! For example the Blue Label Laplaya stays in Stainless Steel and never even sees oak (which is my fav) during the ageing process and I still really enjoy it!
